Dramatic footage has emerged from Inner Mongolia of firefighters battling to contain a huge forest fire.

In the clip, which was filmed in Hulunbuir on May 17, helicopters can be seen dropping the firefighters close to the enormous blaze.

According to local authorities, more than 8-thousand people were involved in the effort to extinguish the fire which started to abate on Thursday evening.

Some 8,400 hectares of forest had been burned as of Friday morning, according to local media.

The video, filmed in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on May 17, shows helicopters dropping the firefighters to rescue the fire in the forest.

Seven helicopters and 8230 people including 4000 soldiers were participated in extinguishing the fire.

It was the third forest fire in the region in one month.
