Whale shark bites boat

Buy video

A rare video has emerged from Mexico of a whale shark biting a fishing boat.

In the clip, which was captured in the Sea of Cortez on May 15, the enormous fish swims slowly up to the boat and clamps its mouth around the swim deck.

Fortunately, whale sharks are filter feeders and only have tiny teeth so the boat was not damaged.

Whale sharks are the world's largest fish.
