A heartwarming video has emerged from the US of a man proposing to his girlfriend as he makes his birthday wish during a surprise party.

The video, shot on June 8 in Vermont Township, MI, shows the woman reacting hilariously when she sees a proposal message on a sign held by her kids.

Soon after, her boyfriend knees down and asks her to marry him. She then screams a wild 'Yes' and they get together in an emotional hug.

''He had my brother make a sign for my kids to hold up for the surprise. It was a picture of Dan and I kissing at Disney and it said 'Mom, will you make Dans birthday wish come true? Will you marry him?','' the filmer later wrote online.

''My sister in law Sarah yelled out to ask Dan if he had a special wish. I looked up and noticed my kids holding up that precious sign over their heads just smiling away.''

''The shock was setting in as I read it. Dan was getting down on one knee and everyone was cheering! I still didn't understand,'' she continued.

''I think it took a few minutes before my sweet Dan could get the words out because I was so shocked and surprised. It was so special to have so many people that we love there to witness that special moment,'' she added.

I was so excited to have planned a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend Dan. He is so special and does so much for me and my two kids that I wanted to do something special for him! I invited 40 of our friends and family to a local Mexican restaurant. I had no idea that he knew I had something planned. He confirmed his suspicion with my two kids.
