The first of the new Hitachi Intercity Express 'Bullet' Trains makes its first visit to Penzance in Cornwall, near the scenic St Michael's Mount. As well as improved sleeping and other facilities, the new train should knock some time off the Penzance- London journey

Today's visit was a test run, as the trains are not due to come into service until 2018. However, it is a big moment for Cornwall, as it provides the first opportunity to see the train which will replace the very popular High Speed Trains on the service between Penzance and Paddington. The new trains represent a major investment in the transport system and significant improvement in strategic connectivity for Cornwall.
