Footage has emerged from China of police helping to catch an escaped pig which was running about on a motorway.

In the video, which was captured in Hechi, Guangxi Autonomous Region on June 13, police officers manage to nab the large animal and get it into a cage.

The pig was then driven back to its farm on the back of a truck.

The pig got rid of the rope and jumped out of the transportation motorcycle, when its owner Ms Wei was waiting for the traffic lights on motorway.

Mr and Ms Wei arrived on scene with a cage to put their escaped pig in and drove away under the escort of the police.
