Terrifying footage has emerged from China of a four-year-old girl dangling from a the third floor balcony of an apartment block 40 feet (12 metres) up in the air.

In the clip, which was filmed in Fujian Province on July 14, the girl hangs from the balcony with her head stuck between the bars of the security rail.

A neighbour comes to the girl's rescue by edging around the balcony on the floor below.

He manages to push her back through the bars to the safety of her home.

According to local reports, the girl had been left home alone while her grandmother went shopping.

The video, filmed in Fuzhou, Fujian Province on July 14, shows a man walking along the edge of a balcony to rescue a girl hanging on the third floor as her head gets stuck in the security net.

After around two minutes, the man pushes the girl into the house successfully.

According to local reports, the man stood out of the window for ten minutes to make sure the girl won't climb out of the net again.
