A torrential rainstorm battered Yangcheng County in north China's Shanxi Province on Tuesday, leaving flooded streets and submerged vehicles in its wake.

The floodwaters rushed down the streets, washing away motorbikes and automobiles.

No casualties have been reported.

Although the rain only lasted for about 36 minutes on Tuesday afternoon, precipitation still reached 32.5 millimeters.

Many bystanders took amateur videos of the flash flood, which show the floodwater exceeding one meter in some areas. The floodwater rushed down the streets to low-lying areas, washing away motorbikes and automobiles as if the vehicles were toy cars.

The local meteorological department issued a blue alert, the lowest level in China's four-tier warning system, for flooding.

No casualties have been reported.
