To mark the release of Liam Gallagher's debut solo album today, here's a video from the Newsflare archive of the former Oasis frontman surprising a pub in Montreal by taking part in an impromptu jam session.

The footage, captured in August, shows Gallager performing with some folk musicians in an Irish pub.

While Gallagher plays an acoustic guitar and sings, another man plucks a banjo. A drummer later joins the pair.

According to bartender and filmer Ben Alexander, his entrance was completely unannounced.

"Liam walked into the pub, ordered a pint, watched some footy, and when he was recognised, he was extremely approachable and kind."
