Footage has emerged from China of more than 100 pigs loose in a ditch next to a motorway.

The animals escaped from the lorry which was transporting them when it flipped into the ditch in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province on August 9.

The video showed emergency services using a crane to lift the pigs from the ditch and put them back in the lorry.

The video, captured in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province on August 9, shows police officers trying to use a crane to lift the pigs up from the ditch and putting them back onto the transport lorry.

According to local media, the lorry suddenly flipped over into the ditch on the side of the motorway, then the pigs transported on it were spilled out.

Some reports said that one tyre on lorry exploded caused the accident, while other said it is because of tired driving.

Except the dead pigs, all the rest of them were taken back onto the lorry after five hours.
