A video has emerged from the US of a man proposing to his girlfriend while they take a picture together.

The footage, captured on August 15, shows a couple posing for a picture when suddenly the man knees down to ask his girlfriend to marry him.

Once the surprise is revealed the mother of the man - who is holding the camera - can be heard screaming wildly in the background.

This beautiful proposal was done at South Lake Tahoe and was an absolute surprise to my fiancé's mother-in-law and myself!!

We were just there to take pictures and his sister was filming the entire event while I thought she was just snapping photos.

If you wait until the end, you'll hear his mother's reaction which was clear evidence that she was completely shocked.
