Drunk Man Stumbles Out Of Pub To Car, Falls Over, Still Wants to Drive...

Just helped a man up after spotting him falling to the ground and hitting his head behind a car outside a pub, I joked that he'd been on cider all day and he replied "No, red wine all day!", I then noticed him heading to his car and told him him that he mustn't drive, he nodded and said "it's fine, I'm old...".Refusing to allow him to drive I asked two guys for assistance whom helped me to talk to him but he wouldn't listen, got in his car and started to drive off despite me standing in front of the car - he hit the pavement and then approached the car-park exit onto a 50mph road, fearing for other road users I grabbed the keys from the ignition and called the Police. He got out of the car and just wobbled off down the road. Terrifying that this guy could have been on the roads and and if i hadn't done anything, he might have killed someone.Avon & Somerset Police confirmed that the guy pleaded guilty at court for drink driving - he was disqualified from driving for 20 months, ordered to pay a fine of £150 and court costs of £115Friends, please never EVER be passive in scenarios like this and just expect that someone else will do something. You never want guilt of not stepping in on your conscience.
