A terrifying security camera video has emerged from China of a woman falling into a manhole in a metro station.

In the video, which was captured next to an escalator in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province on August 26, the commuter steps on the manhole cover and it gives way, sending her plunging into the hole beneath the station floor.

A man walking next to her reacts astonishingly quickly and manages to grab her by the arm and a group of passengers then help the man to drag her from the hole.

According to local media, she suffered only a few scratches to her arms and legs.

Local media reported that the manhole cover was damaged.

The CCTV video, filmed in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province on August 26, shows a woman suddenly dropping into the hole opening on the tube station floor, while a man walking beside her trying to grab her immediately.

Then, more passengers come over to drag the woman out of the hole together.

According to local reports, the woman happened to step onto a damaged well cover on the floor in the subway.

Fortunately, she only had several scratches on her arms and legs.

It was not clear why the cover was damaged or no warning signs were there either.
