A school teacher in Lucknow, India has been suspended after she repeatedly slapped a student for not standing up when she called his name during a roll call on Wednesday.

Police have booked the teacher, Retika V John, over the incident at St. John Vianney School after the child’s father lodged a complaint.

A shocking video footage from the class room’s CCCTV camera shows the raging teacher slapping the boy repeatedly with both her hands. She pauses, scolds, drags him by his tie and starts slapping all over again.

She had allegedly slapped the boy as many as 40 times in a span of three minutes.

The boy’s parents were alarmed after he went home from school with a swollen face. As he was not willing to talk about it, they spoke to his classmates who said that the teacher had slapped him mercilessly.

The parents complained to the school principal, who went through the CCTV footage.
