Footage has emerged from China of a police officer slamming to the ground a woman holding a child.

In the video, which was filmed in Shanghai on September 1, the woman holds a toddler with one arm as she argues with a police officer.

When the woman begins to push the officer, he slams her and her child to the ground hard.

Two passersby rush to help the distressed child as the police restrain her mother.

The police officer has been suspended, according to local news.

Local reports said the confrontation was over a parking infringement.

In the video, captured in Shanghai on September 1, a woman with a child in one of her arms has argument with a police on street.

As the woman pushes the officer, he suddenly slams her to the ground, resulting in the girl crashing down hard on the pavement.

Then, two passersby run to check the girl immediately, while two police officers control the woman.

According to local news, the woman illegally parking her car obstructed the police enforcing the law violently.

However, the officer was suspended as he didn't consider the child's safety.

Fortunately, she was not injured severely.
