Spectacular footage has emerged from China of runaway horses stampeding along a highway.

The video, filmed in Suzhou City near Shanghai on September 5, shows nine horses racing along a highway at night amongst moving cars.

Police followed the horses and called trainers from a nearby stud farm to lead them away, according to local media.

No accidents were reported since the incident occurred at night and traffic was light.
