A bizarre clip has surfaced from China of a 83-year-old grandmother taking her enormous pet tortoise for a walk in the street.

The strange moment was captured in Changchun, Jilin Province on September 10.

According to local reports, the woman bought the reptile nine years ago when it weighed just 0.15 kilos but it grew quickly and now tips the scales at 50 kilos.

In the video, captured in Changchun, Jilin Province on September 10, the granny named Hao feeds her giant tortoise with watermelon and takes it out for a walk.

Hao brought the tortoise back home nine years ago from the city she travelled to.

The pet which was initial 0.15 kg weight grew to more than 50 kg now.

Hao made a cart to carry it and also created a song to remember the time they spent together.
