Time-lapse footage has now emerged from US-based filmmaker Michael Shainblum documenting his trips across Yosemite and other North American mountain chains.

The video, shot over several years, shows the weather formations over the mountain chains of California, Oregon and Alberta.

"I wanted to show the beauty of these incredible formations under different atmospheric conditions and let these mountains speak for themselves with simple static timelapses," the filmer wrote online.

The locations featured are Alabama Hills, California; Yosemite National Park, California; Banff National Park, Alberta; Three Sisters Wilderness, Central Oregon; and Lost Lake, Oregon.
