Video has emerged of the stampede that broke out on a pedestrian bridge in Mumbai on Friday, killing at least 22 people.

In the video, filmed on a staircase at Elphinstone station during morning rush hour, commuters can be seen crushed under foot.

Gaurav Katiyar, a Mumbai-based digital marketeer, captured the terrifying incident on his phone on his morning commute.

He writes: "The bridge has been overpopulated and there has (been) constant fear about it. Today, in the peak hours people went crazy after sudden thunder and rains, someone said that bridge is about to fall. They started rushing and fell in the process. The bodies hit the concrete hard."
