'Woah, woah woah!' Dash-cam captures incredible near miss as bus driver stops just short of car after it spins out of control on M40

The quick reactions of a bus driver saved a group of senior citizens from a certain crash on a major motorway in England.

Experienced driver Mike Helm was taking 47 members of the University of the Third Age (U3A) on the way back from a day out in Oxford in September 2017 when suddenly a Volkswagen hatchback lost control further ahead on the M40, struck the central reservation and spun directly into the coach's path.

Helm somehow managed to bring the coach to a complete stop with less than one foot between the two vehicles.

The passengers spontaneously applauded Helm's excellent driving, who was driving well within the speed limit, at 62mph.

After the incredible near miss, Helm can be heard addressing the driver: "Mate, you're lucky!"

He then checks in on his passengers.

"Everybody OK are they? He's going to have to change his underwear, I think," he jokes.

The driver in the Volkswagen did not even apologise, according to Helm.

The near-miss took place near the Oxfordshire village of Tetsworth.
