Indonesia's Ministry of Environment last week released eight slow lorises into the wild.

The primates quickly climbed from their cages up trees in the Bung Hatta Forest Park in West Sumatra.

The endangered animals were confiscated from illegal wildlife traders last month.

The Bung Hatta Forest Park is thought to be perfect for the primates as it is abundant in insects and fruit.

Despite making poor pets that are difficult to care for, a large number of slow lorises are traded as pets both locally and internationally.

Ministry of Environment and Forestry, released 8 Slow Lorises (nycticebus coucang) in Bung Hatta Forest Park, Padang City, West Sumatera, on 3 October 2017.

Once found the trees and woods in the forest, these lorises look happy and instantly climb trees freely. Some of them even climb trees while carrying their children. Happy freedom day, hopefully proliferate.

Environmental condition and ecosystem of Bung Hatta Forest Park is in accordance with the original habitat of slow lorises. Located at an altitude of 500 to 600 Mdpl (meters above sea level), this area meets the needs of livestock life, including food sources such as insects and fruits.

Previously, these endangered species are confiscated from the investigation results of the Security and Law Enforcement, Environmental and Forestry Section of Region II Pekanbaru from the hands of wild hunters and illegal trade of protected animals in Agam district on 20 to 23 september 2017 ago.
