Queues for McDonald's Szechuan Sauce snake around block
Video of huge queues outside a McDonald's restaurant in Los Angeles for an event promoting its Szechuan Sauce that had been brought back for a one-day promotion.
In the video, filmed on October 7, hundreds of people can be seen queuing outside and inside the McDonald’s to get their hands on the sauce.
The sauce had become a cult item after being mentioned in the Cartoon Network “The Rickshank Rickdemption" by characters Rick and Morty.
Says the filmer: "This is the line of Rick and Morty fans waiting outside the only location in LA to receive the promotional Szechuan Sauce.
"Only 70 sauce packets were available here for the entire city, and just after 2pm the lion's share of those packets were stolen by someone who jumped the counter and ran out of the store. Police shut down the event shortly afterwards. These people waited hours in the sun for nothing, and the day afterwards McDonalds announced that they'd be doing a wide release of the sauce this winter anyways."
McDonald’s has since tweeted: “You spoke. We’ve listened. Lots more #SzechuanSauce and locations. Details soon. And that’s the wayyy the news goes!
