Red Sun over Bristol - Freak Weather!

Buy video

The Gloucestershire skies have turned a murky orange/red colour today, as the tail end of Hurricane Ophelia sweeps across Western Britain. This weather phenomenon has created a interesting Red Sun in the sky. Saharan dust or ash from South-Western European forest fires may also be contributing to the peculiar filter across our skies.

You will notice in this footage that the sun is a deep red/orange colour, easily viewable with the naked eye, whilst casting a murky orange glow.

Commuters this morning will be wondering, is this a side effect of the unique weather events currently occurring over the Western British Isles, or something more sinister... It could signal the incoming apocalypse!
