Cabin crew hold moaning contest during flight over South China Sea
These two US travellers lost their patience when the cabin crew held a "moaning contest" during an Air Asia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Cebu in the Philippines.
In the footage, shot on January 28 by Chicago-born couple Harry and Audrey Lesner, people can be heard groaning into the intercom while the rest of the passengers shake their heads in despair.
They told Newsflare by email: "We had just reached cruising altitude with passengers settling into the flight, when the crew decided to do the unthinkable - hold a moaning contest aboard the flight!
"The reaction of the passengers was priceless! It was a mix of shocked mutual stares, bulging eyes and covered ears, and confused 'what the hells?' It lasted around 10-15 minutes as there weren’t many eager participants.
"Truth be told, the contest was affiliated with the Chinese New Year celebration and prizes were awarded to the loudest, longest moan. Regardless, many would agree that the correlation of the New Year holiday and prolonged moaning is a little ....odd.”
The Lesners quit their jobs and sold all their possessions in 2014 to travel the world, dubbing themselves the Budget Savvy Travelers.
Suffice to say they have never experienced a flight quite like this one.
