'Rude' backpacker sparked outrage by putting smelly feet on bus headrest
NOTE: Archive, used by London 07/04/17. Suitable for video players, archive, rev share etc
This was the moment a 'rude' backpacker sparked anger by putting her smelly feet up on a bus headrest - next to a passenger's head.
The woman, believed to be from France, was onboard a minibus from Bangkok to Sukhothai in northern Thailand on March 30.
A fellow passenger sitting in front of her when he suddenly noticed a rank smell - turning around to see the woman's dirty white socks poking over the seat next to him.
He films the woman for more than three minutes before asking her to put her feet down. But she arrogantly dismisses him, and puts her legs straight back onto the seat where people put their heads.
The behaviour - doubly offensive in Thailand where pointing feet at people is considered highly rude - sparked anger in the country.
The filmer said the woman, who has never been named or come forward to apologise, was ''very rude''.
He said: 'This woman's face was beautiful but she had no manners. The smell from her feet was filling the whole bus. It was hot and made me feel sick, because her feet were next to my head. I asked her many times to put her legs on the ground and she would not do it. She just kept them in the air. Somebody will have to use the seat and put their head where her dirty feet were. Would she have done this in her own country? If think that she thought she could get do it because she is a woman.. and on holiday. People should be more respectful when they are visitors to other people’s countries.'
