The native red squirrel is a regular sight in this small village of Outhgill in the Mallerstang valley Cumbria. It is maybe because the residents put food out for them in small "squirrel boxes" full of hazel nuts. I have also often see them feeding on peanuts put out for the birds. They are always a joy to see the scampering around the trees and walls with their long bushy tail behind them.
