Loy Krathong,festival of light and water
Thailand's festival of Loy Krathong is a celebration of water and light. It takes place on the full moon of the twelfth lunar month,when people float lanterns in the rivers to show respect to the goddess of water. On the day before the full moon, people visit temples and there are displays of dancing and lanterns at temples. Candles are lit around town. In Chiang Mai, 300 dancers performed a candle dance (fon tian} in front of thousands of locals and visitors at the Three Kings Monument.
