Footage has emerged from Indonesia of a thief attempting to rob a shop while its owner is asleep behind the till.

In the CCTV video, recorded shortly before 4.30am on November 1 in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, the motorcycle helmet-wearing thief walks into the shop and sees that the shopkeeper is sat down behind the counter and has dozed off.

The thief then leans over the counter and takes some cash.

Not satisfied by that, he then tries to remove the cash drawer full of money, but it slips from his grasp and falls to the floor, waking up the startled shopkeeper when it crashes to the ground.

At that moment, the thief makes a run for it while the shopkeeper leaps up, carrying a huge sword, but the thief escapes on a bike.

In the end, the thief got away with 100,000 rupiahs, less than £6.

A thief steals some amount of money from cashier when the shopkeeper fall asleep on his desk. In the end, a hundred thousand rupiahs is taken away easily.
