Tourist covered in blood after alleged attack by man from Britain
A tourist sits on the street covered in blood after allegedly being attacked outside a bar by man from Britain.
Algerian soldier Antar Youcef, 34, was seen with blood pouring from his head and soaking his shirt in 'sin city' Walking Street in Pattaya, Thailand, at 4.30am this morning.
Officers arrested a 25-year-old man who said he had travelled to the holiday resort from his home in Britain. He was seen being hauled into a police truck to be taken for questioning at Pattaya City Police Station later today ''when he had sobered up''.
The Algerian holidaymaker was taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital where he received treatment for wounds on his head.
A young Thai woman who was with the Algerian man said they had gone into the bar when the man from Britain started ‘’making trouble’’.
She said: ‘’We tried to avoid him and his group because we did not want to have any problems. We went outside and a few moments later I saw my friend had been hit and there was blood everywhere on him. I screamed and called for help from staff in that area.''
Lt. Col. Kristha Pratumkaew, Deputy Police Inspector of Pattaya City Police, said that the suspect was too drunk to give his full name. He said: ‘’Officers were notified of foreigners causing physical assault and injury. The incident took place in the streets of South Pattaya.
‘’The Sawang Boriboon Foundation Pattaya attended to give medical treatment.
‘’The man suspected of causing the disturbance was drunk and he only gave his name as ‘Joe’. He did not say his age and he was not in control of himself.’'
