Starling Murmurations Create Giant Mushroom Shape In the Sky

Buy video

When starlings gather together at dusk in their thousands they often put on a amazing acrobatic display called murmurations especially when a bird of prey like a Sparrowhawk is trying to catch a starling for its supper. The starlings also can create interesting shapes as the flock twist and turn across the sky, like this mushroom shape caught in slow motion before they settle down to roost for the night. This footage was taken at Tarn Sike in the Westmorland Dale Cumbria UK on Friday 17th of November at 4.20 pm
