The unusual craft is made from plastic stormwater pipes, bits of aluminium and wood, plastic chair seats, an electric outboard and solar panels and a battery.

The solar panels provide 50 percent of the power, and the battery supplies the remaining electricity.

Kids Mikalah, 11, and Samuel, 8, tried out the boat on Sunday at the lagoon in Terrigal, New South Wales, and appeared to have a lot of fun.

Just for fun and because it was a beautiful sunny day I made a solar powered electric electric boat for my children to use on the local lagoon (Terrigal, NSW Australia). It is made from some pvc plastic stormwater pipes, bits of aluminium and wood, plastic chair seats, an electric outboard, solar panels and a battery.
The kids could use a sliding mechanism to steer the boat, and my daughter MIkalah aged 11 sat at the back and was responsible for turning the motor on and off.
Samuel, aged 8 sat at the front and enjoyed the ride.
