A video has emerged from Salt Lake City in the US showing an urban skier grind a huge rail and then almost get hit by a car.

In the clip, which was filmed earlier this year, the skier - known only as Fred - leaps onto the handrail on a flight of stairs and slides all the way to the bottom, landing the trick perfectly in the road below.

However, as Fred starts to slow down, a car turns right into his path and misses him by a matter of inches.

"Even if you land the trick you wanted, you can't celebrate until you are clear of all hazards." the filmer wrote online.

Even if you land the trick you wanted, you can't celebrate until you are clear of all hazards. The person making a righthand turn in this clip was seconds away from colliding with Fred, who should know better than to ski out into a busy road without looking both ways first.
