Bizarre footage has emerged of a drunk British tourist being hauled into a police truck after locals caught him running across roofs - and tied him up in his pants

The man, who was not named, sparked anger after shouting and jumping on buildings in a village in Pattaya, Thailand, at 11.30pm local time on April 18. Villagers caught him and used rope to string him up by the feet and hands before calling police.

Video footage shows him pleading in a Thames estuary accent with police to ‘’put me down’’ and ‘’get off me’’. But officers poured water over his head ‘’to try and calm him down’’ before he was arrested and chucked into a police truck and taken to Banglamung district station.

Onlookers said the man was drunk and smelled of alcohol. He is believed to have ended up in the region after losing his way from the main party district around 15 minutes away by taxi.

Police Colonel Apichai Grobpet said at the time that the man was taken into a cell to sober up. He said: ''He was causing a disturbance but the villagers in the local community came together to catch him and keep him under control. We don't believe he has committed a crime but he might have drank too much.''
