A British couple were filmed being attacked by a bar maid after disputing their drinks bill.

David Lodge, 64, and wife Mary, 55, had been visiting the Patsy beer bar in Pattaya, Thailand, and ordered a number of beers. But when the bill came they claimed they were overcharged and threatened to ring the police.

David said the bar girl then ''went ballistic''. The woman, named Rungnapa, was seen hitting David, from Liverpool, with her shoe, then following him down the road and kicking him.

David said: ''My wife said ‘you’re robbing us’ and when the police were mentioned she went ballistic. She took her shoe off and came at me. While a Thai man grabbed me from behind she continued flailing with her shoe. She was like a bloody Rottweiler! When my nose exploded the guy let go. We decided we needed to get the hell out of there. When I woke up the next day I had an awful headache and a black eye. But at least I am still laughing!''

Original reports claimed David had disputed the bill and told the staff he ''could get cheaper drinks at 7/11''.

Officers at Pattaya City police station stepped in to calm the situation and mediate between both sides. Nobody was charged.
