Emotional footage of two girls being reunited after they met and bonded at a hospital a year earlier when they were both ill.

In the video, captured on November 12 at her parents' home in Austin, Texas, the doorbell rings. Seven-year-old Hanna opens the door, where a large cardboard box is waiting for her.

Hanna opens the box and her older friend Paige is inside to surprise her.

The two met in a hospital, where both were treated for serious illnesses.

Paige has been sick since the age of two and suffers from severe brittle asthma, adrenal insufficiency, POTS, and cold-induced urticaria.

Younger Hanna has SSS (short stature syndrome), severe atopic dermatitis and severe allergies.

As the oldest patient, Paige was asked by the nurses to play with Hanna, who was six at the time and "terribly scared", according to Paige's mother.

"From then on out, they were inseparable. They spent every moment they could together and went from calling each other best friends, to unbiological sisters," Paige's mother told Newsflare.

"Paige continues to be extremely happy and positive making everyone around her wonder how she always stands strong!"

My daughter, Paige, has been sick since she was 2. Now as a 14-year-old - almost 15 - her fight has become harder but her determination has become stronger. Last year we had to fly Paige across the country to National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado, for her 2nd time to be treated. While she was there, she met 6 (now 7) year old Hanna. Hanna has SSS (Short stature syndrome), Severe atopic dermatitis, and severe allergies. She was terribly scared when she arrived at the hospital, and since Paige was the oldest there the nurses asked her to play with Hanna. From then on out, they were inseparable. They spent every moment they could together and went from calling each other best friends, to unbiological sisters. Hanna said she doesn't know what she would do without Paige. They both love each other so much!


After an upsetting goodbye, they left the hospital of 2 weeks being together and even after that they were inseparable. They face-timed every single day, and never left each other's side even though they were 1,569 miles away. One day, Hanna and Paige were talking and Hanna said.. "Paige i miss you so much, i wish i could just get in a box and be mailed over to you.." And after that Paige KNEW she had to get down to Texas to see her. Paige promised Hanna she would see her before a year was up, and she kept the promise. They left the hospital November 12th, 2016, and reunited November 12th, 2017. Paige wanted to surprise Hanna by being in a box, pretending she got mailed over from Maryland. Hanna was shocked, and couldn't be happier. They got to spend 3 whole days together, and loved every second.
