While working in my yard I kept hearing odd sounds coming from the entrance to one of the gardens. By the entry way I had some old glass and metal lanterns that I had placed as decoration. They had been there for years so I rarely notice them anymore. However this time there was flurry of motion and strange noises coming from one of them. I was shocked at the scene playing out inside of the lantern.

It seems that not one, but two Wrens had squeezed themselves in through the narrow slits at the top. They had become trapped and were panicking to get out. I was afraid that they might hurt themselves and I could tell that they were frightened.

I opened the lantern and one flew out immediately. The other bird however was confused, afraid and needed a bit of help to be set free.
