At approximately 7 pm 03/01/2018 a 2 car accident blocked 2 lanes of traffic at the Wandana Avenue and Grand Junction Roads.
It has been said by witnesses that one of the two vehicles a white Toyota Echo was travelling West along Grand Junction Road when the male driver failed to stop at the red traffic signal, colliding with the silver Nissan X-trail causing it to spin and then flip onto its side The Xtrails rear drivers side tyre was ripped away from the car and thrown into a Roller Door of a property near the site denting the door causing minor damage. A witness was assaulted by the driver of the Toyota while attempting to render assistance to them. The Driver of the Toyota believed to be in his late 40's is reported to be unlicensed at the time of the accident. He was conveyed to hospital in a stable condition.
The road was blocked off while the X-trail was put onto a tow truck.
All traffic lanes were reopened about 830 pm.
Police are still investigating the accident.
