Nutty professor dad and son adapt toy rocket launcher for extra fire power

A self-styled nutty professor dad and his son literally had a blast on Saturday when they adapted a toy rocket launcher to give it some extra fire power.

Australian science teacher Jacob Strickling and his son Samuel, aged 9, attached a homemeade "marshmallow cannon" to the spongey toy rocket launcher.

Next, they squirted in some fuel and then used a starter cord to produce a spark in the chamber of the cannon.

The result was pretty impressive - the rocket flew through the air at high speed, right the way across the garden.

"The spark ignites the fuel and the expanding gases produced cause the rocket to be ejected," Strickling explained.

Please do not try out this "experiment" without adult supervision.
