Spain_Bank workers strike (to protest layoffs)

Today the bank´s workers stop one hour from duty between 10 to 11 gmt, to protest against the cuts on the staff (around 6000 will be fired) and cuts in salary.

This is the story of one of those bank (BANKIA) in Madrid, three of the five employees stop and went outside informing people about the situation. The director of the bank support the strike aswell.

Workers thinks that the banks not offering fair redundancy pay and was taking advantage of new labour laws making it cheaper to fire staff, but Spanish banks are obliged to cut costs in exchange for receiving state aid.

Bankia, Banco de Valencia and NovaGalicia Bank, it is expected to receive part of a credit line of up to 100 billion euros granted to Spain from the Euro zone
