The Mad River ice Jam January 12th 2018 the mad River ice jam January 12th 2018
This video is of the ice on the Mad River in Moretown Vermont releasing as temperatures reached nearly 60 degrees in January. The weather has been cold rather very cold in the below zero to close to -30 Fahrenheit for about a week before the temperature rose to 60. Heavy rains fell for a few hours melting a lot of the Mountain snows. Therefore overflowing the tributaries and Mountain Streams to Mad River. I was out in my car when I seen the ice dam let go in Waitsfield Vermont. I immediately headed to my home in Moretown to check for flooding. When I got home I noticed the waters rising. And I was able to record the initial Ice Flow.
