WATCH: Timelapse of Mayon Volcano spewing ash plume, lava fountain anew
Video was taken at Legazpi City, in the province of Albay, the Philippines at around 6:00 p.m. today, January 23, 2018. The volcano spewed a fountain of lava and an ash plume that towered the sky for the third time this Tuesday afternoon. It is characterized as a "strombolian" type of eruption, where an ejection of lava (fountaining) and an ash plume kilometers high can be seen. The volcano has been erupting since yesterday, January 22, 2018, and had multiple episodes of eruptions today, January 23, 2018, eruption type ranging from Phreatomagmatic to Vulcanian.
