This is why you always need a gym buddy when lifting heavy weights.

This guy was a the gym entirely alone in Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday and attempted to bench press 115 kilos.

The set started well but he didn't have the strength to complete the fifth rep and had to bring the bar down on his chest, pinning himself to the bench.

With no-one at the gym to help, he was left struggling for several moments with the heavy weights squeezing the breath out of his body.

Eventually, he managed to slide one side of the bar off his abdomen onto the floor and then wriggle out.

"I was alone at the gym. I almost died," the man wrote online.
