This is the moment a 2.5ft long cobra is rescued after it got trapped in a steel mesh escaping through a drainage outlet by a temple in India.

The snake had swallowed a toad and got stuck in the mesh due to its bloated abdomen.

Volunteer Mr Atul Baral rushed to the spot and rescued the snake by digging the drainage outlet with the help of bystanders.

The snake was later taken to the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar, where Dr Biswadip Jena freed the snake by cutting the mesh with a metal cutter.

The snake then regained its mobility and regurgitated the toad.

A 30 Inch long Indian cobra was found trapped in a steel mesh of a drainage outlet because of a swollen abdomen in Rajarani colony in Bhubaneshwar India.
As soon as the temple authority saw this, they called up the Snake Helpline and one of its volunteers Mr Atul Baral was rushed to the spot who managed to dig the mesh with the help of bystanders and take the snake to the Helpline office where Mr Subhendu Mallik did the preliminary assessment and saw a wound on its body.
The snake was then taken to the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (OUAT), Bhubaneswar where Dr Biswadip Jena freed the snake after cutting the mesh using a metal cutter and found that an obstruction was created in the snake's body because of a toad that it had swallowed.
Soon, it was noticed that the muscles had started to rip off because the skin was cut open by the mesh. In no time and with complete precision, Dr Jena used 8 stitches to close the cut. It was only after this that the snake could resume its normal movement and miraculously ejected the toad from its mouth. At the end the snake was given antibiotics and was kept under observation for sometime.

Once again, a life was saved by the Snake Helpline and the Veteranian.
