Whilst having a coffee in one of Torquay harbours cafes, I noticed a thick black smoke emanating from one of the moored boats, it was at this point I started to film the event using my Samsung S7 phone.
The boat crew escaped with no injury but found themselves trapped (but safe) on the pontoon due to the boat flames and smoke blocking the only access leading to the top of Haldon Pier.
Eventually, the harbour master rescued the stranded crew, then proceeded to wait at a safe distance by the burning boat, waiting patiently for the fire brigade to turn up.

The rescued boat crew reported to us that the fire was started accidentally during the engine start procedure and it was most probably due to some refuelling spillage. The boat fuel tank was full during the event.
