Indonesia's Mt Sinabung volcano erupts sending huge ash cloud into air
Indonesia’s Mount Sinabung volcano erupted yesterday (February 19) sending a huge ash column into the air and forcing residents and tourists to evacuate the area.
The volcano, located on the Sumatra island, was dormant for four centuries before 2010 but has now experienced four seismic incidents in eight years.
Thousands have been forced to evacuate the area around the mountain in the past few years, according to reports.
Mount Sinabung is among more than 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia, which is located on the Pacific 'Ring of Fire', an area of intense seismic activity.
