A resident of Pune, Santosh RajeShirke travelled to Haridwar, a city in North India from Pune, Maharashtra neither in a train nor in a plane, but in his car by driving it in reverse all the way leaving everyone surprised, hence, becoming the centre of attraction for all.
He started from Pune, Maharashtra on 10th January, 2018 and has covered 5600 km across eleven states while driving in reverse his Swift VDI car without any modification with a speed of 40-45 kmph on highways and 15-20 kmph inside cities, covering 30km in an hour, on an average.
After driving his car in reverse for the first time on 1st June, 2017 from Pune to Raigarh i.e. around 180km, he developed his confidence after which he has been increasing his level and has started driving throughout the country, across various states in the reverse gear now.
After few months of practice, Santosh says that now he can comfortably drive backwards at a speed of 40 to 45 km per hour with a siren attached on the top to warn drivers and pedestrians about his peculiar driving. “I take all the care required to protect other drivers on the road,” he says proudly.
With this Raje wants to convey the message of spreading brotherhood and compassion across the whole country and worldwide.
After spending over 4000 USD in the fuel, Santosh aims to cover the northeast India next and come back to his home in Pune that will be around 5000 km long of a drive which will take around a month and a half to finish.
The video shows Santosh driving his car in reverse using the rear view and the side mirrors efficiently.
