Villagers performed a spectacular dragon dance in the midst of dazzling molten iron fireworks in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Sunday evening, attracting around 10,000 spectators.

Unlike a traditional dragon dance, the folk performance in Tongliang District incorporated molten iron fireworks. The molten iron was heated to temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius before being launched into the air by 20 artists, creating an incredible lights show, the way it was performed before the creation of modern technology and LED lights.

Under the searing heat, villagers performed a classic dragon dance, wearing just shorts and cloth hats to protect them from the scorching molten iron.

Video footage of the performance shows a dragon seemingly flying through the splashes of light and fire, mesmerizing spectators of all ages.

Traditionally, the short 10-minute performance was held to pray for a good harvest.
