A pride of four lionesses strayed into an industrial area in western India terrifying workers and hunting down a cow.

Mobile footage of a CCTV video shows four lionesses feasting on the cow right behind an industrial shed in Junagadh on February 26.

The terrified workers, who witnessed the hunt, called forest officials who came and managed to send the pride back to a forest nearby.

Junagadh is located in the vicinity of Gir sanctuary, the only home of Asiatic lions in the world.

The Sonrakh river, which separates the industrial area from the forest, is affected by drought and the pride somehow managed to cross the river and entered the industrial area in search of prey.

A pride of four lionesses strayed into the industrial area of Junagadh in Gujarat, India, on February 26.

They spent six hours at the campus owned by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) hunting and feasting on a cow.

A CCTV camera at GIDC filmed the four lionesses preying on the cow right behind an industrial shed.

Several workers employed at GIDC also witnessed the hunt, but kept a safe distance.

The terrified workers called forest officials, who came and managed to send the pride back to the nearby forest.

Junagadh GIDC is located in the vicinity of Gir sanctuary, the only home of Asiatic lions in the world.

The Sonrakh river separates the industrial area from the forest. As the river was dry, the pride managed to cross it and enter the GIDC area in search of prey.

GIDC president Lalji Mawani said, “Lions entered GIDC campus for the first time. They scared the workers doing the night shift in the units.”

Nearly 6,400 people work in 385 industrial units at GIDC.
