This is sunrise at Alderney Airport in the Channel Islands, which was shut down yesterday (February 28) in a massive snowstorm.

The video was captured at shortly before 7:30am.

Conditions this morning were still causing distruption.

Guernsey Airport tweeted: "Colleagues at Alderney Airport continue with their snow clearing and expect to be open for medevacs and helicopter operations by 11am today, subject to no further deposits of snow. They hope to be fully open for all aircraft later today."

The ongoing polar vortex known as the “Beast from the East” is still affecting much of the UK, causing numerous traffic and travel delays, as well as isolating rural communities.
