The Blencathra mountain was put up for sale in the Lake District. More than 6,000 people joined a campaign group to buy the 2,848 foot (878 metre) high Blencathra range. The group, called Friends Of Blencathra, registered as a charity, were outbid by an unnamed private buyer.

However, Eden District Council have now listed the mountain as a Community asset, which may give the group a second chance to buy it. More than likely the ownership will be resolved by the court.
