A dramatic footage shows an angry elephant charging at forest rangers in Karnataka. The rangers who were out on patrol in the jungle had to run for their lives when angry elephants started charging at them in India. In a separate incident, a forest ranger was trampled to death in the same.

The first incident where the elephant could be seen chasing the forest rangers happened in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve forest, in Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu, the second one in which the elephant killed forest rangers happened in Mysuru.

The team of forest rangers was on a patrol in the forest when the elephant came charging at them unprovoked.

In the second incident, Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Manikantan was trampled to death by an elephant in Mysuru, Karnataka. Like their counterparts in Madumalai reserve, the officer was on an inspection of the forest, following the news of forest fire.

Victim Manikantan was the Chief Forest Officer of Kabini and director of Nagarahole. When the officer was on inspection, an elephant rushed towards him at Bidikuppe in Kabini, when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Manikantan was in the area and came out of his jeep to check which area of Kabini was on fire when the elephant attacked him. Before he could get back into his jeep and escape, the jumbo killed him on the spot.

Last year, forest officer Murigeppa was killed in the forest fire. This year, the news of a fire in the forest led to the death of an IFS officer.
